New express bus terminal in Indera Mahkota, Kuantan opens today
KUANTAN: The new RM50 million express bus terminal in Indera Mahkota here, which will be opened today, will help improve the standard of public transportation in Pahang.

Members of the public welcomed the Kuantan Sentral Terminal which has 40 bays for express buses, 365 parking lots for cars and another 176 for motorcycles.

The new building replaced the Makmur Terminal which was previously located near the Darul Makmur stadium.

"The new terminal is so beautiful and comfortable that it motivates me to go to work everyday. I also find that it has better safety and security aspects ," said Plusliner ticketing agent Sabariah Mohd Sidique.

The 30-year-old mother of three said the old terminal was congested and the public sometimes crowded the booths when they wanted to buy tickets for festive seasons.

"Their refusal to queue up sometimes endanger their safety and also the ticketing agents. There were also those who entered the ticketing booths at the old site," she said.

Transnasional bus driver Nordin Mat Zin, 44, said the new bus terminal was more comfortable and airy as it had high roof.

"Passengers no longer have to wait in cramped and humid waiting area. The facilities here are also great and the ambience is similar to an airport ," said Nordin who has been driving buses for 25 years.

Pacific College student Nur Shakila Zakaria, 21, said it would be better if RapidKuantan provide a dedicated shuttle bus service to ferry the people from Hentian Bandar stage bus station and TSK.

"Students like me have to use the stage bus service as we can't afford to take a taxi," said the students from Kuantan who came to TSK to buy bus tickets to her hometown with three friends yesterday.

Her friend, Nor Shahwani Abu Bakar,19, said the new bus terminal was very condusive as it had more facilities including clean toilets and comfortable waiting areas.
